Le Tour de France 2010

The Tour de France is the world's best-known cycling race, a month long road race that covers a circuit of most areas around France, and sometimes neighbouring countries. The race is broken into stages – these are individual races from one town to another. The time taken by cyclists to complete each stage becomes a cumulative total in order to decide the outright winner at the end of the Tour. Around 20-22 teams of 9 riders each take part.

The basic idea of a race through the country, broken into stages and based on cumulative time, has remained intact throughout the history of the Tour de France which started in 1903.

Running from Saturday July 3rd to Sunday July 25th 2010, the 97th Tour de France will be made up of an 8km prologue starting in Rotterdam followed by 20 stages (varying from cobblestone sections to mountainous roads) and will cover a total distance of 3,600 kilometres. Many of the stages will be passing a number of Keycamp parcs – a perfect partner for you to follow your team across France. You can organise to stay as long or as short as you want at each parc.
