D-day notes
The D-day beaches of Normandy offer stunning beauty and awe-inspiring stories of courage. On 6th June 1944, the greatest invasion force in history gathered on the south coast of England and set sail for Northern France on what General Eisenhower called the “Great Crusade” to liberate Europe from the Nazis.

D-Day was to be one of the most important days of World War 2, and turned the tide in favour of the Allied forces. The northern coastline of towering cliffs and glorious beaches remain the scars of the historic campaign.

Visitors to Normandy can discover the many historical monuments, museums and pretty towns that are a reminder of Normandy’s turbulent past.
At our Normandy campsites we have D-day Landing notes, which offer comprehensive histories as well as directions and maps to the famous memorials, cemeteries and beaches.
